December 24, 1967

 Harry invited us down for New Year.  Hardly any snow. Saw Ken’s family, Joan, Nelson, Vi, Harry. Duckie, Tiny’s mother, Edith girls, boys, Walker Sherry, Harold, Rachel and family, Mother and Graham.

 Dec. 25

 Tiny and I had dinner with my mother and Graham. Came hone at 3. 7 p.m. it’s snowing. Saw Tiny’s mother.

 Dec. 26

 It snowed about 3 inches. Haven’t seen anyone. It’s 3.30 bright and sunny cold. It went to 15 below.

 Dec. 27

 Tiny sick since Xmas day. Abbie Nichol, his son-in-law and a young lad were here last night.

 Dec. 28

 Snowing.  Tiny and I had an argument.  It’s 23 above 11 a.m.   Nelson & Harry came.  Nelson gave us a box venison.  He had ½ case beer & bottle.

 Dec. 29

 Sunny & cold.  Tiny’s mother has been sick about 3 weeks now.  Hughie was here last night.  Wilfred & Stella brought Tiny a pack cigs., cake, candy.  Went to 10 below.

Dec. 30

 Had a drink with John, Emma, Nelson, Reg.  Joan sick.  Walker, June, Tiny and I went to Junes mother.  Kip went to town with us.  It was zero tonight.  Also went to my Mothers.

 Dec. 31

 Nelson gave Tiny hair cut.  Not drinking.  Reg. brought in some beer.  Laurence McNulty had some wine.  Harold and Rachel and kids were here.  Snowing.

  10 a.m. 15 below. We went to my mother’s and Tiny’s mother. 20 below 11:30 p.m.

  Jan. 2, 1968

 Snowing 9:30 a.m. 10 below. Tiny was to go to work, couldn’t start car. Still snowing, 2:30 zero.

  Jan. 3, 1968

 Snowing zero at 8 a.m. Hughie came going to help dip 15 chickens, 5 below.

  Jan. 4, 1968

 Snowing 11 a.m. 11 above, 10 below tonight. Saw my folks, Tiny’s mother, Betty Bowes, Foster. Isaac, Faith sick. Gail sick, Emma and John flu, Betty R flu.

 Plow just came 1:30 8 above, had 2 puffs since last night Stella & Wilfred were here, 10 below

  Jan 6, 1968

 Saw Ruth. Joan sick again, snowed. Was home at 11, 15 below.

  Jan. 7, 1968

 Snowed quite a bit, l0 a.m.10 below; zero 1:30, still 10 below windy going to 40 below.

 When we got up at 8, 30 below,  Sunny 11:30 a.m. 22 below, 4:30 15 below 12 midnight 22 below, is to go to 35 below.

 When I awoke at 6 it was 24 below, 11:30 a.m. 5 below, quarter to 1 5 below, 3 p.m. 10 below

 6 a.m. 20 below, 11:15 2 below. Saw Mother, Graham, Betty, Muriel, Mother, Mary. Joan.

 Jan. 11. 1968

 6 a.m. 20 below, 10:30 a.m. 10 below.

  Jan. 12, 1968

 It was 20 below at 6 a.m. , 12:30 it’s 5 above. Raymond, Pat were here from Ottawa also Delie. It’s to go to 20 below, 9 p.m. 5 below.

  Jan. 13, 1968

  1:03 a.m. 2 above at 6 a.m. 20 below. Saw Ruth, Joan, Vi.  Mrs. Wright is waiting for bed in hospital. A letter from Beulah. June at Ottawa . Linda, Joey, Walkers. 12:30 p.m. 20 below.  Sent Nelson birthday card.

Jan. 14, 1968

 Saw Mrs. Wright. She is in bed waiting to go to the hospital. Saw Betty & Donald. 6 p.m. 20 above. Had a letter from Beulah. Dennis, Ann, my Mother & Graham, saw Ruth & Bernie, they didn’t see me. Started to snow around 6:30

 Jan. 15. 1968

 Still snowing heavy, snowed heavy all night, 11 a.m. 20 above windy, 1st time snowed in.

  Jan. 16, 1968

  6 p.m. 1 below; we are still snowed in. Snowed a few dribbles. Baked bread.

  Jan. 17, 1968

 2 below at 6, 10 a.m. 10 above, cloudy still snowed in. Mother went to hospital Monday, Graham & Muriel took her; Plow man had dinner here.

  Jan. 18, 1968

 Saw my mother & Graham, going to town, took Ruth to see her mother in hospital. Saw Ann & Dennis there, stopped at Joan’s, l2 p.m. 35 above windy, saw Hilda, Jimmy.

  Noon raining off and on 35 above. Baked Biscuits. When I went to bed at 1 a.m. 28 above.

  11 a.m. 38 above cloudy & sunny. Saw Ruth, Wayne, George, Mary, Ike, Viola & girls.

  Jan. 21, 1968

 30 above sunny and windy, Ken, Freddie & Sonny were here. Saw Mother, Graham, Betty, girls, Shane, Harold, Roy , children gave me 3 presents. 2 Birthday cards. Saw Joan, Nelson & kids went to 20 above. Presents from Debbie, Annie, Greg, Rachel.

 Sunny & cold it’s 10:30 , zero at 4 a.m. It was 6 below, I have bronchitis and a pain in my head. George was here. Stella, Wilfred gone to Burnstown with Tiny.

 MY BIRTHDAY, it was 20 below last night. Foster came to te1l us that Mrs. Wright has cancer and a short time left. Plowman was in for a visit, 2:30 a.m. 10 below.

 Cloudy 10 a.m. 19 above. Went to see Tiny’s mother. She gave me a box chocolates and some doughnuts.

 Tiny has gone up to saw wood at his mother’s, lovely day. 10 a.m. sunny 28 above. Saw Ruth, Scrappie, Adail, children, George, Hazel, Art.

 Snowing. Ken & Freddie were here. I’ve a sore neck. Saw my Mother. June was phoning to Mary to see if we were up. Tiny, girls, Mary and I had snack of turkey that Mary made. Went to Muriel’s.

 Gerald brought Alice for a visit. Beautiful day. It was 38 above. It’s 3:30 and 30 above.

 5 below at 6 a.m. 25 above & cloudy. Saw my mother, Vi, Mary, Nancy, Joan, Billie, Peggy, Dennis, Ann. Went to Annex to see Tiny’s mother. 11:30 p.m. 20 above.

 Rained off and on. It’s 11:30 p.m. Raining 35 above. Windy.

  Feb. 2, 1968

 Raining, 40 above, cloudy. Ground hog didn’t see his shadow. 11:30 p.m. 35 above. Windy.

  1 o’clock 29 above. Snowing. I went in to see Mrs. Wright. Stopped at Joan’s, my Mother and June’s. Was 10 above after midnight . Mrs. Wright wants us to take Carol & Dale in to see her.

 Sunny and windy. 18 above at 1 o’clock . Harold & Greg were here. 2:30 20 above. Tiny went up for eggs.

 Cloudy most of the day. 3 p.m. sun shinning 25 above. We are taking Carol & Dale to see their grandmother.

 18 above at 2 p.m. Going to Village after supper. Wrote Mrs. Wright. Saw my mother, Viola, Kids. 15 below tonight. Tiny got a beaver.

 Sunny. 9:30 20 above. Just saw a fox. Raymond & Pat from Ottawa . Delie & Frank Arno just left.

 7 a.m. 5 below, windy, cold, 11 a.m. 15 above. Hughie, Nancy, us went to see grandma, Wilfred, Stella came, 10 above at 1:30 a.m.

Plow came, sunny, 10 a.m. 10 above. Hughie, Nancy and us went to Renfrew. Saw Ruth, Vi. Mary, Betty, Dorothy, Wayne ; 15 below. Last night took t.v. in.

 15 below 7a.m. , 11 a.m. 22 above, sunny, taking Carol, Dale to see Grandma. Hughie, Kippy, Carol had supper here. Carol stayed all night. Brought T.V. home. Saw Rachel, her mother, Linda, Bobby too.

 Edith, Carol, Dale, Wade had dinner here. 5 p.m. 29 above went to store.  Joan, Nelson away, saw Kip, Randy, Terry, Dennis Riopelle and Joan’s new t.v.

 Sunny 38 above, saw my Mother. Graham, Vi, Nancy, Foster, Ike, kids. Spoke to Muriel on phone: 29 above 11 p.m. I saw 3 wild ducks.

  10 a.m. 35 above sunny. Saw the 1st crow. We went to see Tiny’s mother, saw Ann, Kathleen, Kip, Jim. 20 above 11:30 p.m.

March 1, 1968

30 sunny, cloudy, windy, 1 o’clock 35 above, washed my head.

  Mar. 2, 1968

 8 a.m. 20 above, cloudy, saw a chipmunk, took Carol, Dale to see their grandmother. I minded them; Edith stayed over night, about 20 below.

 Vi, Harry, Peggy, Lillie came back 10:30 , Betty, Donald, family, Mary, Isaac, Robin, Ronnie, Pat, Laurie, and family, Bill Elliott’s Mother dropped in, Muriel phoned.   Edith left, cold 5 above at 11:30 .

Sunny, cloudy 41 above, heard Saturday Rachel’s mother broke her ankle.

 10 above 7 a.m. , 9:30 20 above, sunny we had a few snow flurries, Tiny went to Village, It went to zero.

 At 7 it 5 above, sunny 10 a.m. 20 above. Wilfred & Stella came 5:15 took them to Burnstown, Calabogie. Saw a coon. 10:30 zero.

 Sunny, 11 a.m. 23 above.  We took T.V. in to get fixed with Hughie & Nancy 6:30 20 above.

 Saw chipmunk again, 11 a.m. 42 above, sunny we are going to town. Saw Mrs. Wright, Dorothy, Wayne, Brian. Wade, Joan, 7:30 40 above.

 Took Carol & Dale to see Grandma; Hughie & Nancy brought T.V. back. 55 above. Kids stayed all night.

 50 above, Nelson took us to car, Art & Hazel stayed all night ­saw Betty Bowes on Saturday. Black birds singing, Mrs. Wright said I was to mind Carol & Dale and boys when Vi left.

 48 above 11 a.m., when I got up at 8 it was raining, saw may mother, Vi, Mary, Edith, Freda, Kids, gone with Edith. Saw Joan & Nelson.

 42 above cloudy, Stella and her niece were here for dinner, it rained, 11:30 p.m. 35 above.

  7 p.m. 60 above. It rained and thundered this morning, sun shining now, 53 above noon , saw 2 ducks. Betty & Jerry walked in a little later; Nancy & Hughie got married yesterday, they all had supper.

 9:30 a.m. 35 above, sunny & windy, fooled Tiny, 15 above late at night, white frost in morning.

 Sunny. wind cold, just saw 2 ducks, Tiny got car to the corner Betty & Jerry married 25 yrs today; saw my Mother & Graham; Spoke to Betty Bowes on phone.

 Frost 7 a.m. Sunny, Tiny boiling sap, we walked out, Graham & my mother drove us to see Tiny’s mother, the end is near. She wants Tiny & Foster to look after her funeral.

 Sunny, was frost early this morning. 10:30 a.m. 52 above, Foster & Florence & Norman here for dinner, Ronnie & Mary were here.

 Nelson, Randy, Regan came 3 o’clock to tell us Mrs. Wright died 11 a.m. Stella is here.

 Nelson took us to town him & Regan had dinner here, Denny & Ann came; we went to Harold’s after wake; very heavy frosts. Saw deer on road.

 Harold & Rachel came, sunny day, frost at night, went to wake; went to Denny’s after wake.

  Apr. 11, 1968

 Biggest funeral ever held here, my mother & Graham, Ruth, George, Art, Rachel, Harold, Nancy , Hughie were at my mother’s, they had supper here.

 Apr. 12. 1968

 Eclipse of the moon, went to my mother’s, saw Ken, Muriel, Wade, Sunny, Wendy, Muriel, made tea, saw Jimmy R. and Terry at Burnstown.

  Apr. 13, 1968

 Saw Ruth, Linda, Scrappy & wife, Kids, saw Terry, Sandy, Bert, Walker, June, my mother, & Graham. Tiny and I went to his mother’s grave; very warm, was home 9:30 p.m. Met Harold, Rachel, & kids there.

 Sunny. windy, 20 above; my mother, Graham came for a visit. 83 above.

 Raining, cooler, 47 above, Stella was here for supper, bought me a candy bar for Easter.

 White frost when I got up, sun shining now, 8:30 a.m. 45 above, Never saw a soul.

White frost this morning, sunny & mild, Gerald was here for dinner. 60 above 12:30 p.m. we went to my mother’s, also visited with Ike and Mary.

 Sunny & mild; Hughie came tonight, said John sent the key.

 Frost this morning, sunny, Tiny got Foster, Mary, Betty, Vi, Babe on phone. Mary & Ike were here.

 Tiny gone to see Foster, sunny 9 a.m. 55 above, we went to Ruth’s, Joan’s, Muriel’s. Family together for reading of will. No one any the wiser. John never came.

 Sunny; Elaine, Bob & children were here for dinner; Harold, Rachel & Family for lunch, Edith & kids for visit also made tea; went and got eggs at Muriel’s; talking to Gail & Reg, went to my mother’s.

 Sunny & mild, 3 o’clock thundering.

 Cloudy, cool; Tiny & Foster gone to see lawyer. Kippy came at 2, had tea stayed for supper; Jimmy, his girl fried, Rose & Gary, Betty & Gerald

 I spent the day at my mother’s; Tiny, Foster, Mary. Ike, Betty sorted the stuff; Hughie was here for supper.

 Tiny away to sort the stuff, my mother & Graham dropped in for a few min., very cool & windy.

 Very cool, c1oudy; Foster, Florence were here; we stopped in at Joan’s, Mr. & Mrs. Frank Arno visited me, also Pat & Raymond from Ottawa .

 The family showed up for the sale, only Dorothy & John didn’t come, we went to Ruth’s. Joan’s, my mothers, she had them up from Montreal ; very cool 47 above in afternoon, Daylight time.

 Mrs. Elliott gave me Ouiji board. Had to get out of bed this morning & go to store, sunny, there was frost this morning Tiny gone to village with Foster; Mrs. Elliott & Helen were here

 Sunny & cool, Tiny helped me to spring clean kitchen; Gerald was here, it rained.

 Cloudy, it has been raining, 5 p.m. thundering hailing.

 Sunny & cool; did washing, ironing; Delie, Frank Arno, Raymond, Pat were here; Delie gave me a coat, cards, cigs.

 Cloudy & cool went to store, stopped in at Joan’s, watched Hockey till 1 a.m. Mailed letter to Rachel’s mother.

 Cloudy 42 above, went to Ruth’s. She came with us, had supper, went to my mothers & Harold’s then Ruth stayed the night with us.

 Cloudy & cool: George came with bottle wine and bottle hard stuff; went to my mother’s & Muriel’s; Hughie & Nancy, Gerald, Betty, Rose & Gary were here.

 Heavy white frost, sunny, Linda, Joey, children were here; went to store; saw Jim, Kip, Irvin, Nelson, Joan, kids, Melody sick, Laurie & Butch stayed out.

 Frost this morning, sunny Gerald just came stayed for dinner. My mother and Graham were here.

  May 8, 1968

 Sunny, cool. Mrs. Wright dead a month today.  Mary, Helen Elliott & 2 girl friends from Arnprior were here; went to my mother’s and to Muriel’s, she made tea.

 Cloudy & warmer, Raining heavy, thundering, strong winds.

  May 10, 1968

 Sunny & warm, stopped in at Joan’s; Wade & Brian here for supper, their car won’t start. Tiny trying to fix it.

  May 11, 1968

 McLeod, Tiny went to field, we went to Ruth’s; sunny, had chat with Joan & Nelson; came home, had supper, Tiny went to sleep at 5:30 ; we didn’t go out.

  May 12, 1968

 Cloudy & mild; Brought my mother her gift; went into bay; went to cemetery, Harold & Rachel were there with the kids. Went to Joan’s, Reg & Gail, Muriel, Ken, were there;  went to see Dennis & Ann; my mother & Graham came.

May 13, 1968

 Sunny, mild; going to Foster’s for supper; at Foster’s Arleen gave me box books; Picked up Georgie, he was going fishing.

  May 14, 1968

 Sunny & mild, Gerald was here, had cup tea.

  May 15, 1968

 Went to my mother’s, went to Muriel’s, went to store; Nelson gave Tiny hair cut; my mother gave me a present.

  May 16, 1968

 It rained; I defrosted the fridge, Assessor was here he went to Cape Breton on his holidays last summer.

  May 17, 1968

 Rained, very cool; Dennis & Ann for supper; Mary, Isaac, Delia, Frank, Raymond & Pat was here.

  May 18, 1968
